A Guide to Maternity Underwear
When you are pregnant, your lingerie needs change substantially.
Here’s a quick look at some of the vital pieces of maternity lingerie that you will need and some options that you can choose from.
Maternity Bras
As you go through the months of pregnancy more than your stomach will change in size, your breasts will as well. That means you may need special maternity bras to offer the support you need and the comfort you also want.
When it comes to choosing a maternity bra think about the material. If you love the look of lace, will you still like the feel of it when you are gaining weight and dealing with changes in your body? If not you may want to look for something more comfortable like cotton or polyester.
Additionally, you may want to look at a bra with adjustable cups and straps so you can wear them throughout your pregnancy.
Maternity Underpants
When it comes to panties, the varieties available are as varied as the women who wear them and that is also the case for women who are pregnant.
It is important to know that there are maternity panties that are made for all stages of pregnancy. They also vary in cuts from larger and more covering briefs to bikini cut panties and even thongs that are made especially to wear with expanding belly.
Maternity Pantyhose
Another thing that needs to adjust for the change in a woman’s body during pregnancy is pantyhose. While most pantyhose are pretty flexible, as they are made from nylon or spandex, you really need to have pantyhose that have been designed to accommodate the expansion of a pregnant woman.
Many maternity pantyhose designs not only allow extra room for your expanding belly, but also have wider waist bands than traditional pantyhose that give added support under the stomach.
